[193] My students performed a study in which they assessed how the UK news media represent victimized female sex workers. The article can be read free of charge at https://www.intechopen.com/online-first/83875

[194] I was not familiar with the intricacies of the Hollywood movie industry, but I was skeptical that the job offer was so substantial that it would be possible for a young, unknown actress to secure 10 auditions in one day, even if it happened only occasionally. To confirm my suspicion, I asked a young film director who is well-versed in the Hollywood business. She told me that 10 auditions a day was not feasible, nor today, nor when Heard started her career. Eventually, if the actress was lucky, she might get three auditions in one day, but in general, there were not that many movies in production at a given time and certainly not that many that Heard could potentially match for 10 different roles day after day.

[195] Heard’s lawyer claimed that the actress had worked as an exotic dancer, which was reported in different media outlets. For example, https://nypost.com/2022/07/31/unsealed-depp-v-heard-court-docs-reveal-crude-texts-with-marilyn-manson-exotic-dancer-claims/

[196] Heard accused Depp of revealing that she had worked as a “striper” in an audio recording of a phone call conversation, which Mail Online broadcast. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/news/video-2104008/Video-audio-Depp-Heard-clash-phone-divorce.html. It was also confirmed by Heard’s sister in her deposition on February 3, 2022, that Heard had worked as a stripper for some time at a bar called The Score.

[197] In a previous work, a colleague and I interviewed individuals who were on opioid substitution treatment, and we discussed matters of labeling and stigmatization. The article was published open access and can be accessed on the journal’s website. Silva, T. C. & Andersson, F. (2021). [198] There are several cases of homicidal violent resistance reported on the Internet. In my teaching, I use the case of Sally Challen to illustrate the category of violent resistance to my students. Sally Challen was interviewed for the 4 News channel.
