[42] Heard displayed very similar behavior during her relationship with Elon Musk. In a 2023 biography of Musk by Walter Isaacson, the author revealed that Heard was in a romantic relationship with the entrepreneur in 2017. In December of that year, while the couple was in Rio de Janeiro with Musk’s brother and sister-in-law, Musk and Heard started an altercation, which Isaacson says was common in their relationship. According to the author, during the fight, Heard closed herself in the hotel room, shouting that Musk had taken her passport and she was afraid he might attack her. Security guards and Musk’s sister-in-law had to intervene to convince Heard that she was safe, that her passport was in her purse, and that she could leave the room because no one was trying to attack her. Isaacson quotes Musk’s brother, who claimed that Heard lived in her own reality.
